Fatman Scoop unexpectedly passed away this weekend at the age of 53.
The rapper and hype-man was on stage in Connecticut on Friday night when he suddenly collapsed. His tour manager and DJ, Birch Michael, shared the unfortunate news on his Facebook page on Saturday. He wrote, “It is with the heaviest of hearts I announce the passing of Isaac Freeman the Third, known professionally as Fatman Scoop. You taught me how to be the Man I am today… I love you, Scoop. Thank you so much for everything you gave to me. Rest in peace.”
The larger-than-life entertainer was best known for collaborations with stars like Mariah Carey, Missy Elliott, and Ciara, and his infectious enthusiasm.
After he collapsed on stage, first responders attempted CPR on Scoop. He was stretchered out and rushed to the local hospital, but sadly it was too late. An official cause of death has not yet been revealed.
