Cardi B announced she is ready to stop delaying and will release her long-awaited second album. She shared this news in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, while also celebrating the success of her debut album, Invasion of Privacy. Cardi noted that she has sold over 500,000 equivalent album units in 2024, despite not releasing a new project since 2018. In her post, she humorously commented, “Album still sellin like good quality p*ssy,” before stating, “OKAY OKAY let me stop playing and drop this second album.” Fans responded with jokes about the lengthy wait for her new music. One user mentioned, “That announcement better be this month girl or I’m starting a rumor about whipshots giving me monkey pox,” while another added, “Album going strong and we’re here for it! But hey, don’t tease us drop that second album already! We’re ready for more hits!” Throughout the year, Cardi has hinted at releasing her sophomore album in 2024. In April, she marked the six-year anniversary of her first album and expressed her nerves about following up on its success. “6 years ago I released my first album and it broke so many records GAH LEE!! 6 years later I’m preparing to drop the next one this year... it’s so different from what everyone is expecting and I'm soooo excited. Love you guys and thank you for the support! I’ll talk to ya soon I been so busy these last few days." She later admitted, “Yeup!!! I’m a little nervous. But I don’t care! I’m liking doing things that my ears want to listen to and reflecting the moods I been in. It feels good.”
The exact release date for her next project is still unknown. She recently posted a video of herself in the studio, although she didn’t appear particularly enthusiastic. Stay tuned for more updates on Cardi B and her upcoming album on 103.5 The Beat.
