It's Jimmy Butler's Birthday!
Jimmy came out of Marquette, where he earned All-Big East honors and helped Marquette earn its fifth consecutive NCAA tournament appearance. Butler was selected with the 30th overall in the 2011 NBA draft by the Chicago Bulls. He was named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team. and named a reserve for the Eastern Conference in the 2015 NBA All-Star Game. Jimmy led the Bulls to the Eastern Confrence semi-finals where they lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers, and ended the year named the 2014–15 NBA Most Improved Player and became the first player in franchise history to win the award. In 2016 he was named to the NBA All-Star Game,
In 2017, Butler was traded, to the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he was named a Western Conference All-Star reserve. By 2018, Butler requested a trade from the Timberwolves, and was traded, to the Philadelphia 76ers, where he led them to the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals.
By 2019, Butler signed with the Miami Heat via a sign and trade with the 76ers and named to his fifth NBA All-Star Game. The Heat reached the NBA Finals after defeating the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals and Jimmy became the sixth player with multiple triple-doubles in a Finals series along with LeBron James, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Wilt Chamberlain and Draymond Green. The Heat came up short against the Los Angeles Lakers in six games, despite Butler becoming only the second player in a Finals series to lead his team in points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks, after James.
Last season Butler was signed to a four-year, $184 million contract extension by the Heat, and led them to the Eastern Conference Finals. The Miami eat made the playoffs all three years Butler has been here and are aiming at a run at the title this year.
