Meghan McCain Addresses 'Fight' With 'The View' Co-Host Abby Huntsman

Meghan McCain took on the tough questions about the behind-the-scenes drama on The View.

During Wednesday’s guest spot on the late-night show Watch What Happens Live with host Andy Cohen, McCain found herself in the hot seat when asked to address her alleged feud with former co-host Abby Huntsman, who announced her exit on January 17 after 18 months as co-host to help her father’s campaign to be Utah’s governor.

While McCain later admits to getting into “a very small fight and a friend fight” with Huntsman off-camera, she believes the story was leaked to the press so the media could use the spat to “weaponize” their friendship.

“Abby and I have been friends for over 10 years. Our parents were friends in politics, we worked at Fox together. Part of the reason she came to The View is because we were friends,” McCain said. “We are still very good friends. We are very close. I just talked to her yesterday morning. She’s campaigning with her dad. I think she was genuinely conflicted about her dad running for governor and her not helping, and that is the reason why she left.”

“This has been a really, really rough few weeks for me because I didn’t want her to go, selfishly, because I thought she was an amazing co-host and just having a friend there has been lovely,” McCain added. “But it’s been really emotionally taxing to have like our friendship used this way in the media. It’s taken a real toll on me.”

In her send-off, Huntsman cleared the air of any alleged friction between her co-stars, expressing: “This has been a dream come true. This has been an incredible job, and I do love everyone at this table.”
