Offset Hit With Felony Weapons Charge

Offset's 2018 arrest is coming back to haunt him.

According to TMZ, prosecutors filed three charges, including one felony weapons charge, against the Migos rapper in February, stemming from his July 2018 arrest when he was pulled over in Atlanta for allegedly making an improper lane change.

As fans know, Offset was allegedly pulled over for multiple traffic violations while driving through an Atlanta suburb. While his darkly tinted windows were first called out by authorities, they later claimed that Offset was stopped because of an improper lane change. It was during the traffic stop that police found three loaded weapons in Offset's vehicle. Since the Father of 4 rapper has a criminal record, he was arrested and charged with four infractions. However, he was able to get the fourth charge, felony possession of a weapon during a crime, dropped, leaving him with three additional charges — a felony charge for firearms possession by a convicted felon, a misdemeanor charge for marijuana possession and a charge for an improper lane change.

Offset's lawyer, Drew Findling, has denied that his client broke any laws leading to his traffic stop, citing racial profiling as the reason for the stop in the first place and Offset's subsequent arrest. "It's a common theme. We're talking about a young, African-American man driving a shiny, beautiful luxury car and clad in designer clothes and watches and jewelry," he told TMZ in July. "Unfortunately people in his genre become a target for law enforcement who think that lifestyle is connected to some illegal activity ... and that is a sad statement."

Offset entered a plea of not guilty last month and due in court in May.
