Dr. Dre Takes A 'Defiant' Knee With Colin Kaepernick

Dr. Dre has sided with Colin Kaepernick and the "defiant" proof is on Instagram.

On Sunday (July 26), the hip-hop veteran took to the social media platform to share a shot of him taking a knee with the former NFL player. There's no context as to where the photo was shot, but Dre's sentiments on their post were crystal clear as he described the shot as "defiant" and tagged Kaepernick. The post was liked LeBron James, Busta Rhymes, Kevin Durant and others.

Kaepernick and Dre have a bit of history together as the athlete partnered with the Beats by Dre brands in 2013, before it was purchased by Apple. Yet, the move sees the producer/rapper join a lengthy list of stars who have backed Kaepernick in protesting racial injustice and police brutality against the National Football League since 2016. Last week, players from several teams, including the New York Yankees, took a knee during Major League Baseball’s opening day, prompting some angry responses from President Trump, former New York Mayor Rudy Giulian and others.

As of late, Kaepernick has been making moves, particularly with his Disney deal, which was announced earlier this month. The partnership includes an an ESPN Films docuseries on his life, as well as a joint project with his production company, Ra Vision Media, for scripted and unscripted stories on social injustice. On top of that, Netflix recently announcement a new scripted series titled Colin in Black & White, which is based on his early years. The six-episode series finished the writing process in May.
