42 Dugg Looking At 5 More Years

42 Dugg has pleaded guilty to evading prison and may be sentenced to up to five years in jail. The case has been ongoing for several years, and Dugg appeared in court this week to admit that he failed to surrender and serve a six-month prison sentence in 2022 for illegally possessing a firearm. While prosecutors have agreed to recommend the same six-month sentence, the presiding judge has the power to overrule this and sentence Dugg to up to five years behind bars.

After his release, Dugg has agreed to attend a 30-day inpatient drug treatment program followed by a 30-day outpatient program. Last year, he was apprehended by federal agents for his failure to surrender and spent several months in jail. The original issue began in 2019 when the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) received a tip that Dugg had fired a weapon at an Atlanta gun range. As a convicted felon, he was not allowed to possess firearms and was arrested and charged with felony firearms possession in 2020. He was also apprehended in August 2020 for evading police.

In May 2021, Dugg entered plea negotiations for the gun charge, which carried a maximum sentence of 10 years. He was able to avoid jail time and received probation. However, a judge revoked his probation soon after and sentenced him to six months in jail and two years of supervised release. Dugg was expected to surrender and report to a West Virginia prison in April of last year but failed to do so, leading to his apprehension by federal agents.

Sentencing for the current matter is scheduled for May 10.
