Kanye West has been staying at his home in Cody, Wyoming amid public concerns about his mental health following his first and only campaign rally South Carolina. While West initially refused to see his wife Kim Kardashian, the rapper received a visit from his friend Justin Bieber. The 'Yummy' singer was joined by his wife Hailey Baldwin, who is close friends with West's sisters-in-law Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner.
West shared a video of Bieber and Baldwin greeting him at his home on Instagram. "Embraced by loved ones," he captioned the post. Though West and Bieber didn't share much else about their time together, a source close to the friends told People that Bieber convinced West to stop avoiding Kardashian.
"Justin wants to be supportive. Justin knows that Kanye has been making new music [in Cody] and appreciates how much pressure it is to produce new music," the source said of Bieber's trip out to Wyoming. Not only that, but Bieber is "beyond supportive" of West and his experiences with bipolar disorder. "Justin struggled for so long himself before he got proper help," the source added.
While West publicly apologized to his wife on Twitter after airing multiple private family matters publicly, the source says "Kanye didn't want to face Kim" to make things right. "He doesn't mind having a public spectacle but he avoids conflict when he's like this. He knows he disappointed her and that kills him." During his visit, however, Bieber convinced West he needed to speak to his wife. "He told Kanye that he needed to talk to Kim," the source shared. "And Kanye finally texted Kim and they talked on the phone."
After their initial phone call, Kardashian flew out to Wyoming for a day to meet with West. "She has a lot to say to him," the source added. "She loves him, but she knows that it’s not healthy for her to be around him now, and it’s honestly not healthy for the kids. He needs to get his stuff together before he can be any sort of partner or father."
In the meantime, Bieber will keep checking in on West while he's out in Wyoming working on his music. "He wants to make sure Kanye is doing well," the insider said. "That's what friends are for."
