Justin Timberlake Breaks Silence On Alisha Wainwright Hand-Holding Incident

Moet & Chandon At The 75th Annual Golden Globe Awards - Red Carpet

Justin Timberlake is speaking out after being pictured holding hands with costar Alisha Wainwright at a New Orleans bar last month.

On Wednesday night (December 4), the musician officially addressed the incident on Instagram with a public apology to his wife of seven years Jessica Biel for what Timberlake admitted was a “strong lapse in judgment.”

“I stay away from gossip as much as I can, but for my family, I feel it is important to address recent rumors that are hurting the people I love,” Timberlake wrote. “A few weeks ago I displayed a strong lapse in judgment — but let me be clear — nothing happened between me and my co-star. I drank way too much that night and I regret my behavior. I should have known better.”

“This is not the example I want to set for my son,” he continued, referring to his 4-year-old son, Silas, with whom he shares with Biel. “I apologize to my amazing wife and family for putting them through such an embarrassing situation, and I am focused on being the best husband and father I can be. This was not that. I am incredibly proud to be working on Palmer. Looking forward to continuing to make this movie and excited for people to see it.”

The Sun was the first to publish photos of Timberlake getting cozy with Wainwright during their night out in New Orleans, where the castmates are currently filming their upcoming movie. Despite attempts to downplay the scandal as it unfurled, sources told E! News that, in retrospect, Timberlake had started to feel guilty about the embarrassing situation.
