Taraji P. Henson Producing & Starring In Film About Emmett Till's Life

In a recent interview with Global Grind, Taraji P. Henson revealed that she's starring in and producing a movie about the life of Emmett Till.

While speaking to Global Grind, Henson seemed extremely passionate, serious and excited about the project all at the same time. “We don’t have a start date yet, but the deal has definitely been done. That’s one project that I’ve been passionate about since Trayvon Martin was murdered. John Singleton will helm the film,” the actress told the news outlet's Blogxilla.

This isn't the first time that we've heard of Henson and Singleton joining forces to create movie magic. This film was originally mentioned back in February 2017 by Vanity Fair. In the project, Henson will portray the mother of Till, Mamie Till- Mobley, who would later choose to have an open casket funeral for her 14-year-old child once he was murdered, in order to show the world the non-sugarcoated reality of what racism looked like. The photos of the deceased teen's face would be published in Jet magazine and The Chicago Reader.

In 1955, half-brothers J.W. Milam and Roy Bryant beat and lynched Till after Bryant's wife lied about the teen whistling at her, three days prior, in Money, Mississippi. The men were later found not guilty of the crime and never served anytime for their inhumane actions.
