Halsey Talks Quavo's Homophobic Remarks, Stands By Iggy Azalea Diss

Halsey's no-holds-back attitude is refreshing to the pop scene, but her recent interview with The Guardian appears to have caused a bit of chaos throughout the blogosphere.

Let's begin with Quavo of Migos. During her discussion with the outlet, the pop star called her album collaborator Quavo "misunderstood," elaborating that the rapper isn't "inherently homophobic," but just "in a tough place of trying to explain what he means." When pressed about policing the perimeters of her LP's guest features, she said she'd never include someone like Iggy Azalea, calling her a "f**kin moron" for having a disregard for black culture. "I watched her career dissolve and it fascinated me," she added.

As you might have guessed, the comments ruffled folks the wrong way, particularly the LGBTQ community, with many fans questioning why she would defend Quavo after he's made questionable after questionable comments regarding homosexuality. In turn, Halsey hopped on Twitter to clear the air regarding both the headline-making bits of her interview.

"Honestly? I didn't know that Quavo had made homophobic comments when I collaborated him," she wrote on the social media platform. "We've never spoken a word to each other and + + I have no intention of pursuing a friendship there, unless he wants to make a legitimate apology."

In a follow-up message, Halsey explained that she "works tirelessly to represent & support marginalized communities I love & am a part of. I'm sorry if my actions have ever seemed otherwise," she wrote. "I only meant to say that people can struggle being socially conscious if they don't have the information/vocabulary. So we must educate them. And I'm proud to watch the young people around me work hard to educate themselves and others to stay woke every day."

In a since-deleted message, Halsey also reportedly stood by her Iggy diss, writing, "The quavo comments taken out of an off record convo about music industry homophobia. NOT a defense. Don't regret the Iggy comments sorry."
